Quality vs. Quantity - Retail Trends & Investment opportunities
Home Depot vs. Lowes
Wal-Mart vs. Target
Sam’s Club vs. Costco
Kroger vs. Whole Foods
I have seen an interesting trend in various retail stores lately. Those retail shops advocating profits through quantity sales and those aiming for profits from quality sales.

Wow - New Options Rules
I’m not sure how I feel about this exactly but I was doing a little house cleaning with my brokerage accounts and came across this notification:
The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) rules governing the automatic exercise of in-the-money equity options at expiration are changing.

GDX & Canadian Dollar

GDX Trade
Yesturday I picked up 100 shares of GDX at $34.25 and sold the November $35 strike/call for $1.50 (GDXKI). The net return here is 4% (including commisions). We’ll wait and see how GDX pans out on November 17 (options expiry) but that’s not a bad return for 42 days. If I [...]

Wal-Mart : Why I don’t shop there!
About a decade ago, I was a regular shopper at Wal-mart but some time over the last two years I simply stopped going there. Of course, a decade ago I made significantly much less money and my primary concern then was to save as much as possible to help cover other expenses. I [...]

Mall Visit
We happen to live nearly equidistant to four major malls and I periodically (usually twice a month) take the family out for a visit to one of them. While the kids entertain themselves with the various play areas and the wife does some shopping I like to observe the activity in the mall to [...]
