I thought my situation with HSBC was unique: For some strange reason, a 12 month 0% APR balance transfer offer I did back in April got hit with a 20% interest rate hike in November with no reason whatsoever. No, I am not late on any payments with any bank or loan to trigger the dreaded universal default. I also send payments to HSBC WEEKLY to avoid the problem.
Today I ran across this thread in Fatwallet.com that talks about other people being bamboozled in a similar way. It’s beginning to look like HSBC is up to no good on this one. I’m calling them right now to get the status of my problem oh yeah, I’m recording the telephone call.
UPDATE: I just spoke with a Rep that was totally clueless. He said they are “aware” of the problem and are looking into it but they don’t know anything else right now.
