We received our first DVD player in 1998 as a gift.  At the time, we were extremely impressed with the video quality of the movies we watched.  Our first DVD purchase was Braveheart; I recall popping in a bag of popcorn in the microwave as we sat down to watch our first feature.   I couldn’t wait to build a DVD library to replace my “old” VHS library. Over the years we must have purchased over 100 DVDs but at about $20 a pop that’s about $2000!

The irony now is that we hardly watch many of the DVDs that we purchased and worse yet is the clutter these small slim line DVD boxes represent in our household.  Over the years we must have purchased at least three different “shelving” systems to hold the DVDs but now they sit in boxes somewhere.

What would I do different?  I wouldn’t have purchased any DVDs.   We don’t purchase them anymore and while I had subscribed to Netflix for a while it doesn’t really make sense to continue with the program since we don’t have the time to watch so many movies.
