Damn You Nintendo And Your Power Adapters!

We have 2 original DS, three DS Lites, and one DSi game consoles at our home and they all have different power adapters! Why? I’m getting really sick of companies destroying the environment with these accessories shenanigans. I’m sure the marketing bean counters at the companies come up with all sorts of numbers that show they can make an extra million in profits if they change the damn adapter and make people go out and buy a new one when one gets lost or damaged.
I’m seriously considering writing my congress reps and asking them to pass a law requiring all power adapters be standard. I don’t know why these companies don’t adopt the min-USB power plug as standard for all small electronic devices: cell phones, game consoles, etc. Why do these adapters have to be different?
As a general rule, the FIRST thing I check on a cell phone or any other small electronic device (digital camera) is to check to make sure it uses a STANDARD USB cable. I once purchased a digital camera which looked like it used the mini-USB cable but ended up being some type of proprietary nightmare. Needless to say, I got rid of that camera right away and wrote bad reviews about it everywhere I could (i.e. Amazon).
Seriously people, the ocean is filling up with plastic junk and companies like Nintendo aren’t helping the situation.
