When Will Libraries Be Obselete?

As some of you are aware, I decided to head back to school to get my MBA and I made the decision to jump start working on a research paper even though school doesn’t start for a couple of weeks.   The professor for a particular class posted the syllabus online and I got the general [...]

District 9 – Cool & Refreshing!

Went to see District 9 and that was the kind of movie GI Joe should have been!  Good story line, plot, and believable sci-fi elements with a generous dose of violence.  I recommend it for anyone looking to escape the real world. Where’s Your FDIC Messiah Now?

According to this post over at Mish Global Economic Analysis, the FDIC went bankrupt on Friday with the latest 3 bank failures.   Technically, the FDIC can tap the Treasury so they money flow will continue but that’s tax payer money not the premiums banks pay into the pool to insure deposits. We’ve  almost come full [...]

I Got The Job! The Recession Is Over!

Well, looks like the kids are going back to school and I’m heading back to work.  I guess this means that the recession is officially over but don’t expect a recovery any time soon.   I took a 30k pay cut to get back into the work force and a whole lot more than that when [...]

Are The Big Three Telecomms Price Fixing?

A funny thing happened on the way to the wireless internet, the big three telecomms (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon) have all simultaneously implemented 5GB caps on wireless 3g/4g internet services.    What an amazing coincidence right?  As far as I can tell, T-mobile is the lone hold out on the 5 GB cap but I wonder how [...]

Chevy Volt To Get 230 MPG?

Oh really?  If the Chevy Volt’s batteries are anything like my laptop batteries, then it’ll get 230 MPG the first six months then about half that after and after another six months it may be down to 40 MPG but that’s still great! I wish I could take that technology and turn it into a [...]

Well That Was The Earthquake…But I’m Disappointed

The symmetry matched what I was expecting on the earthquake albeit a couple of weeks late but I’m disappointed that it wasn’t 8.0 or greater.   I just don’t get why, except for the fact that perhaps the energy “split” between the two earthquakes.   Oh well, back to the drawing board predicting earthquakes….. My “To Buy” List Is Getting Awfully Long

Back in January of 2008, I began my boycott for the year because of the tax nonsense and put purchasing a variety of items (52″ LCD, 24″ iMac, etc.) on hold. In January of 2009, I was sacked and put any major purchases on hold but I continued to add items to the “To Buy” [...]

GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Warning:  GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra isn’t a movie about the rising cost of health insurance & cobra or Obama’s new healthcare plan!   We went to see the movie this weekend and I have to say that I’m seriously disappointed.    Perhaps a movie about the rising cost of health insurance would have made a [...]

AMEX Raising Fees & APR

I just got a note from American Express stating they are raising their late fee to $39 for balances over $250 and a mere $19 for balances under $250.   The APR on my account is going up to 15.25% which is a significant bump up from 10.99% I had a while ago.   It’s good to [...]
