Uh-Oh, Brokerage Reps Keep Calling Me To Tell Me They’re My Best Friend

I’m getting really nervous now. I’ve had accounts open with some particular online brokers for nearly a decade and I’ve never ONCE received a call from them asking me how their service has been these past few months nor if I’m interested in expanding or consolidating my accounts.
I guess with Bear Sterns, Lehman and Merril Lynch on the verge of collapse or buy out or bankruptcy, everyone’s starting to panic and some marketing genius decided it was a good time to call up customers and try to give the illusion of great friendship and service.
It’s getting really scary out there, be careful!

Hey Slick,
How does UYG@17.85 look?

They look sooooo tempting. The $18 puts are trading for $1.50 with 4 days till expiry!
I’m tempted to sell 10 contracts to rake in $1500 at the $18 put strike. The October $18 calls are trading for $2.65 so if I’m assigned I can get another $2600 on top of the $1500 provided the bottom doesn’t fall out. That’s $4100 in about 40 days!
The Dow just dropped 500 points though and it could drop another 300 to 700 if the panic sets in but we’ll see tomorrow.
