About a decade ago, I was a regular shopper at Wal-mart but some time over the last two years I simply stopped going there. Of course, a decade ago I made significantly much less money and my primary concern then was to save as much as possible to help cover other expenses. I paid a visit to Wal-Mart a few weeks ago and I had meant to write about my experience but I hadn’t until now…

I now recall why I stopped shopping at Wal-Mart and here are the reasons:

1. Wal-Mart’s parking lot is almost always full of trash. I don’t understand why they don’t simply put trash cans in their parking lot. I tripped over a bottle someone left on the floor and could see oil cans (like someone changed their oil there) and diaper on the floor. 2. I picked up a few items (milk, bread and fruit) and headed for the checkout. As usual, Wal-Mart has 30 check out lanes but only 6 are open.

3. As I stood in line I began to wonder if I picked a strange day to shop there because 3 out of 5 people in front of me were paying with a welfare type credit card. Perhaps this was the day the cards get refilled? Wal-mart if you read this – PUBLISH THE WELFARE SCHEDULE ON YOUR WEBSITE so the rest of us can avoid waiting in line watching people subtract items from their basket because they don’t have enough money on their welfare card to cover expenses.

I finally got paid and headed out. Perhaps the most suprising thing about my experience was that there weren’t really that many shoppers in the store and I had expected it to be packed.
