Well That Didn’t Take Long

On January 1st, 2009 I made some predictions about what would happen in 2009 so let’s review:
1. Massive earthquake 8.0 or better to hit in 2009. I have an earthquake widget that sits on my desktop and based on observations for the year, it would seem a major quake is inevitable. The 2004 India ocean earthquake/tsunami occurred after a lunar perigee Dec 12 21:31 357985 km N+ 20h and in 2009 the lunar perigee will be Jun 23 10:40 358017 km N+ 15h. If I had to guess June or July 2009. Crystal ball is a bit cloudy on this one but confirms my hypothesis.
On January 15th and February 11th, there were two earthquakes 7.4 and 7.2 respectively in the eastern hemisphere but these weren’t the ones I was expecting. The symmetry was all wrong on these but I still expect on 8+ quake in June/July 09. see http://www.iris.edu/news/special.htm
2. Major bank failures in 2009. There will be at least one, more likely two, big bank failures in 2009. I could tell you the names but you know them and it’s a terrifying prospect.
Citibank? Bank of America? Chase? Just wait…..
3. There will emerge a new currency late in the year, the crystal ball says it may break in two ways: local currencies will rise at a community level or a world currency will emerge to eventually replace all currencies.
The Euro is falling apart and the USD is suffering from massive monetization which will lead to a severely devalued dollar but the real fear is that the U.S. government will default on debt which will make this prediction a certainty when it happens.
4. There will be blood in the streets. There will be riots in the streets in 2009. Most likely, Detroit and/or Washington DC.
Any of you that work as police officers for any major city know what’s coming as you’ve been training and drilling for riots more frequently and with greater intensity. I’ll add Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, and New York City to the riot watch list.
5. At least one third of US states will go insolvent. Alright, many are *already* insolvent but the list will continue to grow.
California, Kansas, Oregon, Nevada, Florida and other states continue to bleed and many have stopped, shortened or modified government services because of lack of tax revenue.
6. Crime rates will explode at all levels as we spiral deeper into a recession, start a depression.
Soon but you can see what’s happening all throughout Mexico, the military is effectively policing large metro areas to get the drug violence under control. It will be desperation (not drugs) that will cause crime to rise.
7. Major war between two nations will break out. Possibilities: Pakistan/India, Israel/Palestine-Iran, Venezuela/Colombia.
Things are deteriorating quickly in the Ukraine and Russia, Pakistan/Afghanistan and of course, Israel & Palestine-Iran. I’m wondering how Israel will survive if the USD collapses?
8. Cuba will go free!
No other choice to survive.
9. North Korea will have new leadership that will begin serious change.
Late in the year.
10. The Dow will slip below 7000.
BINGO!

Why do you think DC will have riots? This isn’t 1968. With all the articles about the revival of H Street NE, which *were* destroyed in the ’68 riots, I don’t think anyone wants another neighborhood to languish for 40 years.
If you’re telling me there will be massive riots in reaction to the Capitals winning the SE Division, then I’ll think you’re smoking something.

DC suffers from a large disenfranchised populace. Disenfranchised from economic opportunity, schooling, and ultimately money.
Capitalists won’t be burning buildings down, they’re the ones that will rebuild them at a handsome profit.

Skippy,
I must say, you are a total oracle.
Always remember vertical, NOT horizontal cuts!
