The big news in the music industry is that an AI generated song is #1 on Billboard. There is a lot of hate out there about it and if you want to read an example, click this link here.
The article in the link has a lot of hate and vitriol against AI generated songs but it also has a lot of “entitlement” in which case the author tries to make the case that only “real” artists should be entitled to #1 song because they have “heart and soul” into their music.
I love music and I love creating my own songs and I am able to do so with SUNO. I think my own written and AI generated songs are amazing. They were so amazing that one even made me cry because it was 100% personalized to my family situation. Is any “heart and soul” artist making personalized music for me? Of course not and if they did I am certain it would be an expensive endeavor whereas Suno only charges a few bucks a month for hundreds of AI generated songs and music.
AI Eliminating Office Jobs
It doesn’t stop at music. There is a must watch video on CNBC at this link with the CEO of Starwood Capital where he laments that AI can do the work of hundreds of people for $30/month with an AI agent and chatbot. He makes the case that commercial real estate was slowly recovering from “work from home” COVID but now AI is decimating white collar jobs so how can office buildings recover if there is no need for office space?
Only The Beginning
If you look at the genesis of many technologies, they start off slow and clunky. In music, I remember my dad sticking 8 track cassettes into a player in his car. The whole thing looked ridiculous but that evolved in the 1970s to an Elcaset in the mid-70s to compact discs in the early 80s then various formats until we got to digital files in the 2000s. You can read the timeline here.
AI is currently in that 8 track cassette stage or if you prefer and were around at the time, to dial up modem transferring data at a whopping 2400 baud in contrast to gigabit speeds on fiber and wireless now.
In other words, AI is primitive but it’s already doing amazing things. What will AI be able to do in 5 years or 10 years? I don’t know but it scares me. My hope though is that I will be able to type a prompt and have a custom made movie. Perhaps I can scan my face and tell AI to make me a comic book superhero like Superman and have me battle Darth Vader.
The only downside to this new technology utopia is that it will put a lot of people out of work. I’m not sure what happens after that but it probably won’t be good.

Are you afraid of AI yet? I keep asking the question because I’ve been afraid for some time now and it’s only getting worse. The news in the headline paragraph above confirms it.
