I wanted to buy some Japanese Yen via a put ratio trade but the apps I’ve built so far are great but they scan the entire market and give me the gold and weren’t giving me the yen (pun intended). So I decided to get Gemini to build me a new app that would allow me to provide the data for a specific equity and have it perform its put ratio analysis on my behalf.
I built the app this time around and now that I’ve learned how to create better prompts, I didn’t have to go through various iterations to get the final product. This time around I created the app on the first try!
Interestingly, there were no good put ratio trades on FXY (Japanese Yen ETF) according to the app so I wanted to double check it was working properly and ran it using data for SLV and it worked perfectly.
I double checked the FXY data and it seems there is very little options volume on that ETF so a put ratio won’t work, there isn’t enough bid/ask and spreads too wide. I did end up buying about $6000 worth of FXY to hold Japanese Yen for a variety of reasons but one is I think the Yen may appreciate over the next few years.
I now have three apps which should keep me very busy with investment opportunities on equities. I will try to focus more on bond and foreign currency apps in the future but my mind is running crazy with idea now so who knows!
