After writing a few apps with AI, my productivity and investing prowess has gone through the roof! I wanted to keep increasing my productivity and workflow so I decided I needed a Firefox plugin for an annoying problem.
Problem Statement: I read a ton of financial news daily and often these articles will have ticker symbols (SPY, IWM, NVDA) with a link to some cheesy website I have little or no interest in however I am interested in the ticker symbol so how I can I have my browser read the ticker symbol and take me to my favorite financial website for analysis?
I worked with Gemini on a couple of prototypes that failed and finally got one working perfectly so now the tickers in the problem statement above or anywhere on this web page like these: SLV, GLD, SPMO will get automatic links that will take me to my financial website using the ticker symbol to the page I want and from there I can click options and review options data or do other analysis.
Ironically, I had attempted to do this a few years ago by hiring someone on Fiverr.com and they wanted a ridiculous amount of money to do it and now with a paid subscription of $20 month, I can get AI to crank out as many plugins as I want, I am only limited by my imagination and needs.
Although this was a frustrating experience, creating the plugin was a whole lot easier than I thought, there are only two files that need to be created and I added a third for a list of ticker symbols I want to track.
Once again, if you make your living coding software, I am truly sorry for your loss. I don’t think all computer programming jobs will go away, just the low end ones that were doing this kind of work but over time it will take more and more jobs away just the way cars took away the need for horse drawn carriages.
I have some ideas for other plugins to boost my productivity as well but I’m taking it one step at a time.
