I had hoped to retire by now but the current global situation has me continuing to work. There is no point in retiring if the world doesn’t have fuel to fly planes, trains or automobiles. I don’t want to retire and just sit at home. The whole point of retiring is to travel and explore the world, at least for me.
While I can’t go anywhere right now, there is no reason why I can’t plan a travel strategy. When I retire, my first stop will likely be Europe. There is generally a 90 day visa limit to visit Europe so I’ve been working with AI to find the best cheap travel pattern using the Schengen “shuffle” to move about.

I’d like to spend at least two years in Europe then move on to Asia and spend 5 years there then round out another 5 years in Latin America.

I may build an app to help me do all of this and track visa stays as I go. It’s important to meticulously track your visa stays because overstaying may result in fines or being barred from entering the country/region again.
I am also eager to get back to work on my Unesco app but I just haven’t had time given all the other things going on in my life right now.
Incidentally, the CEO of Palantir has recently said that SaaS (software as a service) is dead. I agree and I’ve been saying that for a while now. I don’t understand how these companies can stay in business when I can create my own Quicken, TurboTax, Travel Apps, Trading Apps, etc. Heck, I have no need for Photoshop anymore, I just ask AI to create what I want and it does it.
I understand that there will always be some residual need for these things but just wait till we are 5 or 10 years into AI advancements. An AI assistant will run your entire household in a few years.
