This is the second David McKnight book I’ve read which is somewhat of a companion book to the first, The Power of Zero which I reviewed here. I call it a companion book because where the first book explains what a LIRP is this second book explains what things to look for in a LIRP – Life Insurance Retirement Plan.
What I Liked
This book is only 86 pages so I breezed right through it. The chapters are simple and I’ve listed them below:
- Finding the right LIRP
- Safe and Productive
- Low Fees
- Tax-Free and Cost-Free Distributions
- A long-Term Care Rider
- Creating Your IUL Laundry List
What I Didn’t Like
It’s clear that picking the right LIRP is critical if you plan on going down this route so given that I would have liked if David McKnight had spent some time on language in some of these insurance contracts and what to look out for in contract/legal terms instead of simplified terms as listed in the chapters above.
What I REALLY Didn’t Like
As in my review of David’s first book, I really don’t like that there are no links to resources on LIRP ratings. I am interested in LIRP but what gives me pause is all the seemingly obfuscation about the topic. Try using a search engine and type “LIRP ratings” or “best LIRPS” and you won’t find much information and I’m left wondering if this is such a great investment vehicle why is there no comprehensive information about it?
CONCLUSION
Most of the information in this book you can get by watching David McKnight’s YouTube channel but if you prefer (like me) to have a printed version of material to reference from time to time then I’d recommend you get this book otherwise just watch the videos. I have added and will continue to add links to the RESOURCES page on this site so take a look there.
