After watching a few cultural videos on how different cultures view money it made me wonder if I had the right personal finance community. So let’s review what I consider my personal finance community now.
Seeking Alpha
By far the most frequent community I visit right now is the Seeking Alpha community over at SeekingAlpha.com. Aside from the vast array of financial data on various public companies, bonds, and other investments, there is a rich investment community of analysts, bloggers, journalists and others that contribute articles to the community.
The only major drawback to this community is that you have to pay to be get full access. The annual cost is around $250/yr but there are occasional discounts to sign up which can bring the cost down to $200/yr.
YouTube
YouTube has a tremendous amount of people that have channels for a variety of investment strategies and here are some of my favorites.
Dividend Stocks
- Dividendology – A YouTube channel that reviews the valuation of various dividend stocks. Also has a subscription model with various spreadsheets and tools to do your own investment analysis.
- Average Joe Investor – A YouTube channel that focuses on dividend stocks but with the added strategy of selling calls to squeeze additional profit from stock investments. Also has tools on a subscription basis to track dividend stocks.
Stock Analysis
- Everything Money – A YouTube channel focused on stock valuation. Offers a subscription to a software tool that can perform analysis. Although just watching the channel can give you some strategic ideas.
- Fast Graphs – A website that has a blog here that covers value stocks. The tool is very useful too but requires a paid subscription. I usually just catch up on the blog to see what stocks have good valuation then use other tools to do analysis.
Bonds
- Diamond Nest Egg – A YouTube channel focused on bonds. Had a lot of great content but then seemed to go subscription only. I still occasionally visit for information on bonds but after watching the key free videos, I learned enough about bond investing that it’s not as high on my list.
Real Estate
- Coach Carson – A YouTube channel focused on real estate property rentals.
- Bigger Pockets – A YouTube channel focused on real estate property rentals.
Taxes
- Safeguard Wealth Management – A YouTube channel that focuses on taxes and retirement.
Conclusion
Almost all of these communities have a subscription however there is plenty of free material available that will be worth their weight in gold without having to pay a dime. I continue to search and learn from new sources because just when I think I know enough, I discover that I don’t. Of course, things change, tax laws change, investment strategies change, so I doubt we can ever know it all anyway. Also note that this is a fraction of sites I visit, I just find these the most useful the most frequently so hopefully you find some of this useful.
I am working on adding another resources page dedicated to YouTubers I follow so stay tuned for that post.
