I got some inspiration from a post I have been working on praising the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. They say necessity is the mother of invention so let me tell you my story.
Back in March I got a new Chase Sapphire Reserve card and I used AI to walk me through maxing points but that was only a small part of the story. The card comes with a great deal of perks (sample screen shots below) but you have too remember to use them or even remember they are there to begin with but how to track not just this card but all the cards you have?

Others have used spreadsheets to track points but that’s too tedious so it hit me that I could have my new AI travel agent do all the work for me!
I took screen shots of all the benefits and perks and fed them to AI and told them to create a tracking mechanism and remind me when my benefits are near expiration. Not only that though, the hotel credits can be optimized for the chains I have high tier status to lower my cost and optimize rewards.
The two screen shots above are already $750 in savings which nearly pays for the $800 annual fee. It doesn’t stop there, the card has perks on StubHub, DoorDash, Apple TV (1 year free). Other perks unlock after higher spend which I will write about in the official post some day.
4 Grueling Hours
From start to finish, setting up the AI travel agent was a bit more daunting than other AI agents. First, I decided to setup a virtual machine instead of buying new hardware. It took about an hour because the updates were so slow for some reason. I then spent another hour setting up the telegram bot, openrouter ai models, and installing hermes on the machine. After that, the hardest part was setting up the AI agent to have its own gmail, google drive, docs and sheets environment. There was a bit of trial and error because AI kept telling me to do certain things and the google platform changed and those options weren’t available anymore.
Nevertheless when I got stuck, I asked AI what to do, fed it screen shots and it walked me through the whole setup. The last hour was the fun part. With AI fully operational, I asked it to become my personal travel agent, it walked me through my credit cards (for rewards and perks), hotel preferences (high floor, away from elevator, pool, dining), air preferences (window, away from lavatory, economy for domestic, business for international but only if it’s below a certain cost, restaurant dining preferences, cuisine preferences, allergies, etc. It was literally like being interviewed by a real life travel agent.
Everything is working now and I have a European trip that I am in the process of building so I will let the AI agent start doing the heavy lifting and we’ll see what happens. By the way the whole thing cost $3.24 in tokens to setup with Claude as the primary AI model.
I now have three AI autonomous agents working for me constantly in the background doing stuff. Tomorrow I am going to ask my AI travel agent to review the safety and security protocols for my European trip given the current circumstances.
