As 2026 rapidly comes to an end and 2027 right around the corner, I am feverishly working on a ton of things. I have a planned trip over the Christmas holiday, Black Friday is coming up and I need a new iphone. I don’t have time to do research to figure out my new credit card portfolio so I asked three AI platforms to decide for me.
To make a somewhat long discussion short, I am posting the recommended strategies. All three agreed that the Chase Sapphire Reserve card is an albatross given my travel plans, travel destinations and needs. This is what I love about AI, it can examine your personal situation and make recommendations custom tailored for you.
Bottom line, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card has some great benefits but they primarily skew toward U.S. centric benefits that I won’t be using or needing in 2027 while I am overseas. Surprisingly, all the AI platforms suggested the Citi Strata Premier or Elite card since it’s one of the few cards with tentacles into Asian travel partners.
Please don’t look at these suggestions and build a strategy around them as these are custom tailored to what I will be doing in 2027. In 2028, I may have to restructure my portfolio again as new products and my needs changed. The one interesting thing is all the AI bots recommended I upgrade or downgrade the cards and not close accounts for a variety of reasons.
I did have to apply for the Citi Strata Elite card and I’ve already been approved. I will get a welcome bonus of 75k points for spending $6k in the first three months which is why I want go get the card as soon as possible for Black Friday and Christmas shopping and travel.
Needless to say, I love AI. It saved me hours of research and comparison matching. Yes, it did make mistakes which is why I had each AI platform check the others and they all found “mistakes” in their analysis and recommendations but it’s not rocket science. There are only so many cards with so many perks and benefits and it all got sorted out.
I was thinking of building an app around this since I re-optimize my portfolio every year or two but I have too many things going on right now planning travel for the next 12 months!
