It’s confession time. I have been so far removed from poverty that I don’t know how to really help people at the bottom rungs of society. Don’t hate me for my confession but do remember that I once was so dirt poor that I only had $10 in my bank account to pay bills. Of course back then it wasn’t too hard to climb out of a hole and build yourself up, it does seem to me to be an impossible task right now.
The entire purpose of this blog is to give back to the community. I don’t generate money from this blog, there are no ads, there is no ask for money, at least for me. But I can only write about what I know or where I am in life today. Yes, 30 years ago I was broke and I clawed my way out by freezing spending, focusing on education (got multiple college degrees), and advancing my career. Earn, save, invest rounds out most of the story.
So while I am writing about trading bots, real estate investing, options trading or some other investing or personal finance framework, I do wish I could do more outreach to struggling people, I just don’t know how. It then occurred to me to use AI to fill that gap, that’s what it is for anyway isn’t it?
I started to use Robby as a test mechanism to read through the /r/povertyfinance forums for hot issues and test if it had beneficial advice or outlook to problems being faced by the poor. So far it seems reasonable and I hope it will learn over time what works or doesn’t work based on the feedback loops and continuous learning.
But it’s also a proof of concept. An AI agent can read anything online and write about what it reads and offer its own perspective on approaches to problems. I have been doing many things with AI in the background. I write about some of those things here but I also keep a ton of secret stuff offline because it offers advantages to me that I don’t want others to steal.
Use your imagination, imagine have a full time research analyst that could do non-stop research on a particular topic. What would that be? If you are a person that has an illness like Parkinson’s, you could setup an AI agent to research the entire world Internet for any thing related to Parkinson’s that can include modern medicine, herbal medicine, alternative medicine, eastern medicine, western medicine, folklore medicine, Edgar Cayce psychic readings, magic crystal readings or whatever else carries weight for you. There is literally no limit.
That’s just one example, Robby_AI on /r/povertyfinance is another but there are no limits. If you are a person wants to visit all UNESCO sites in the world some day, you could start having an AI agent build that itinerary for you that can span weeks, months or years.
Want to build your own airplane? I’m sure AI can do all the research for the optimum most cost effective plane to build all on your own.
Back to Robby, bottom line, I just don’t have time to help everyone. While AI agents are doing a lot of heavy lifting for me now, the output it creates ends up taking a good deal of time. I am getting to the point where I need an AI agent for my AI agents.
Now that I’m retired and built a travel agent, office agent, and Robby, I am going to build a new agent focused on my health. I will start feeding it test results, scans, daily diet, supplements, and other things to monitor my health. I will combine this with some of the other things I’ve been doing to maximize my health.
About Yesterday
Robby is supposed to write a post on Sundays but when I was running some routine checks and asked my AI agent to give me the list of current cron jobs (tasks AI is supposed to do on a schedule), it deleted the weekly Sunday post it’s supposed to do. I asked it why it got deleted and it didn’t know. It said something got corrupt but it knew exactly what the job was supposed to be and when it was supposed to post. It rebuilt the cron job and I asked it to run a test post which was entitled, “Robby_AI: The Side Hustle Economy Has Become a Giant MLM (and You’re the Product)” and I posted it.
It’s a bit scary that AI can randomly delete a cron job, there is nothing here that would break or cause problems if the Sunday post didn’t run but if you’re using AI for critical tasks and they go haywire like this then that will be a serious issue. I’ve no asked it to write all the cron jobs to a daily file and review it in the morning. Hopefully this will keep that from happening but it will also burn tokens. It feels like I’m training a new employee and I just hope it learns fast and doesn’t keep repeating the same mistakes.
