It’s amazing that ChatGPT is just 4 years old and quite frankly the first year it wasn’t that great. Image generation was pretty crappy, it had a ton of hallucinations and other issues but now things are starting to git good.
I like to take a retrospective look at things twice a year, half-way through the year I do one and at the end of the year I usually do another. So here are the ways AI and AI agents have changed my life.
The Past
Sometimes, I read through some of my old posts and it’s ridiculous at how things have change for me in such a short time. This post was written in December of 2025 and I read it now and laugh. Since I built my own collar trading apps, I haven’t touched that website. It does beg a question though, why doesn’t Fidelity and other brokers do better?
The Present
AI Agents Feel Like Employees Now
Robby
I have three AI agents running right now on different computers. The first, Robby, serves a variety of roles but his day-to-day is to write posts for my blog after conducting research on a variety of topics. Robby now has been tasked with researching poverty issues on four continents: North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia. You’ll be reading posts from Robbby (hopefully) all summer and fall while I’m away on extended holiday.
Robby also researches how the wealthy people are doing and their top issues or investment ideas/advice. Robby writes “F.I.R.E Fridays” posts now. What it does for me is gathers a ton of reading that I would normally do and summarizes it for me so I don’t have to spend hours reading it myself.
Travel Agent
My travel agent has done a fantastic job of planning three months worth of holiday complete with transportation, hotels, activities, safety alerts, restaurants and other things. It knows my credit cards, my credit cards points and reward system, and where I like to sit on a plane, train, or bus. It knows the types of restaurants and cuisine I like and will only find the highest rated ones close to my hotel.
My travel agent mapped all the sites on google maps which I can open on my phone and know where exactly everything is located. My travel agent also sends me reminders to book events since there is no point booking a cooking class 2.5 months from now when two to three weeks ahead will do.
Office Agent
My office agent handles all my household stuff, maintenance schedule, it maintains my digital files and library, it serves as my technical support. I have huge plans for my office agent as I’m building something unique with Claude that my office agent will eventually run and own.
Spending
My spending has significantly changed. I recently dumped T-mobile to save money on telecomm costs and allocate those funds to my AI agents. Yes, I’d rather have my AI agents than my mobile service. I would actually be content to have a simpler smartphone that simply had a sophisticated way to talk to my AI agents. I can’t begin to tell you how much I hate logging into apps and doing 2 factor authentication or going through hoops to get to use an application.
AI agents simply go out and do what needs to be done. I don’t understand why the rest of the world isn’t moving fast enough to accommodate AI agents. Perhaps it’s because they fear what I’m doing, that’s canceling SaaS subscriptions for services I might have used in the past. In a few years you won’t need Quicken, TurboTax, Adobe Photoshop or their whole suite for that matter. ServiceNow? I’m sure someone using AI will crank out an exact clone and opensource it at some point. CEOs that don’t understand this are clueless.
It’s funny that Adobe is bolting on AI to their suite trying to justify using their software but the truth is only high end power users will continue to use Adobe, the rest will use AI until AI gets so good that it’ll be dumb to pay hundreds or thousands for things like Adobe Suite or Microsoft Office suite. I paid for Office 365 early this year but that’s going to be the last year I ever pay for Microsoft office. If I need a spreadsheet program, I’ll just have AI build me one or download one from a Github repository.
The Future
It’s become clear to me that the whole software industry is going to radically change over the next few years but the real change AI will do is enable every single person without a tech background to build apps. The best part of building your own apps is that they are customized to you. YOU build what you need, YOU decide the design, color scheme, the structure, the formats, the images, the fonts, and whatever else you can think of and build your dream apps.
I can’t tell you how many times I went to “IT” with an idea or suggestion only to be told it would be too difficult or cost too much money or whatever. I’m now building AI apps in days and sometimes hours. I have no need for those tech goons anymore.
Future Agents
The next AI agent I want to setup will be an AI health agent to monitor my health. I’ve already downloaded all my medical records for the past few years and I’m creating a repository. It will have all my vaccination records, blood test results, and eventually have images of everything I eat. That’s just the beginning, I will feed it my parallel medical system results and other things.
